Our Intent:

We aim for all children at Wood Field Primary School to leave Year 6 with the ability to:

• Read and write with confidence, fluency and understanding, using a range of independent strategies.
• Take responsibility for their own learning including self-monitoring and correcting their own errors.
• Embrace reading, demonstrating their love of reading and a desire to read for enjoyment.
• Actively explore and show an interest in words and their meanings.
• Use a growing vocabulary in relation to grammatical terminology.
• Understand a range of text types, media types and genres.
• Write in a variety of styles and forms appropriate to the situation.
• Use their developing creativity, imagination, inventiveness and critical awareness.
• Use a suitable technical vocabulary to respectfully articulate their responses in any discussion.
