Online Safety in the Oak Field Curriculum

At Oak Field, we recognise that being safe online is paramount for our children. As part of the Technology curriculum, children complete an Online Relationships unit every year. This is taught primarily through RSE and PSED sessions that focus on building, developing and maintaining safe relationships.  In addition, we think about who our trusted people are both inside and outside of school; stranger danger, risks and appropriate social behaviours.

An example of our curriculum is below:

What is the outcome?

How do the children learn this?

That people sometimes behave differently online, including by pretending to be someone they are not.

That the same principles apply to online relationships as to face-to face relationships, including the importance of respect for others online including when we are anonymous.

  • Being a good friend

  • Turn taking

  • Sharing

  • People we could ask for help

  • People who we can trust

  • NSPCC cyber bullying

  • Circles of trust

  • Saying no and consent

  • CEOP Video - Episode 1 - Just like in face-to-face situations, if it makes you feel sad/worried/scared - Tell A Grownup.
