Wood Field Primary School

Year 2

Welcome to Year 2!

We enjoy learning about the monarch this year in our history topic. To personalise our learning of the monarch, we go on a residential trip to Hever Castle.

In Year 2 amongst many other interesting and exciting activities, we learn how to tie our shoelaces, plant flowers for bees and taste different foods during our international day. We come dressed in our cultural attire and take part in a range of activities such as Bollywood dancing, creating and decorating flags, and a parade to showcase our national dress. As well as our international day, we learn specifically in detail all about Turkish celebrations. These are part of the 50 things to do before you leave Wood Field.

We read the story of 'The Snow Dragon' and learn all about the Northern Lights. As well as the 'Snow Dragon', we read a range of stories in our English lessons such as 'Little Red Riding Hood'. George's Marvellous Medicine', 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and the alternative version, 'Jack's Beanstalk Stinks'. We discuss which version is our favourite and why.
