Year 6
Welcome to Year 6, where we thoroughly enjoy learning about World War II, and embark on adventures to the Tate Britain and National Army Museum. Other fun experiences include Evacuee Day and a heart dissection!
In Summer, our residential trip is to Grosvenor Hall in Kent where we participate in a variety of adventurous, team building activities and make life long memories. In Year 6, we learn how to design, build and evaluate a range of products including automata toys and a steady hand game. We love having the opportunity to use tools such as saws and drills to make our creations come to life. Our cooking and nutrition knowledge is expanded whilst planning and creating a three course meal, one we get to make in school, and our creativity is developed whilst exploring a range of artists; we each get to give our own interpretation using a range of mixed media.
We delve deeper into the world of mathematics, reading and writing by learning new methods, gaining an understanding of what makes a good reader and creating written pieces, each with a different purpose and audience. The stimulus we use range from the stories of real life heros to short video clips full of suspense. Year 6 is such a rewarding year, and we work hard to feel as prepared as we can for high school.
